The beginnings of most successes are usually quite humble. This is how our highly successful organization, first set its wheels in motion. Although initiated at a very small degree, we placed complete focus on high-quality, low-cost and fast-paced printing. We attribute this to be the primary reasons behind our accomplishments.
Our business as the Patel Printing Press was first established in 1963. The key individuals involved with the launch were Kantibhai A. Patel and Kanubhai A. Patel. At a time in the year 1970, when there were only four offset printers in Ahmedabad, we acquired our first machine. Within a short period, our quality-focused work began to gain recognition. In 1972, Patel Printing won its first award from the President of India. This was for the release of the ‘Best Printing of Invitation Cards’.
Escalating at a Steady Pace
At Patel Printing, we recognize the importance of keeping pace with emerging technological advancements. A new tool that began to emerge was that of computer type setting. It was obvious that it lent precision and greater quality to the printing process. Hence, in 1974, the Patel Printing press purchased its first computer type setting equipment at Gujarat.
The company also began to acquire other printing equipment from Germany. These included five Heidelberg Presses, Folding Equipment, Polar Cutting Equipment and Plate-making Equipment. In 1989, the Patel Printing Press was the only company to have a 4-color rotary flexo-printing press. Following up on its success, the company moved to expand its new flexo-printing division. For this purpose, 6-color flexo, with slitting and inspection equipment, was bought from Canada.
A Company Re-organization
In 1999, the partnership of the company was changed to that of a limited company. The company then invested in technologies like Computer-to-Polyester Plate and another 4-color offset machine. This again, was a successful venture through the productivity and sales it improved. The year 2004 saw Patel Printing invest 2.5 Crores in Computer-to-Plate (thermal) technology. This was a dramatic change and worked wonders in terms of the time taken to print, while producing superior international quality results. We have also installed an Automatic Wiro-Binding Equipment from Italy, in order to be able to improve quality, reduce waste and speed up work that was done manually earlier.
